03/17/2015
Pressed for time this St. Patrick's day, I wanted to apply the slow cooker. I used 1 12 oz. Deadeye Stout by Triton Brewing Co. and didn't mensurate the brown sugar. I just patted the meat dry and added the sugar. I probably just used 3/iv cup total. We really liked the taste of this meat, and 8 hours was perfect for the meat, merely too long for the vegetables. I was worried the beer would make the dinner bitter, but information technology wasn't, at all. A nice repast that I would make once again, only calculation the vegetables about 1 - 1 1/2 hours after starting the meat. Thanks, COUNTRYRAY, for sharing your recipe.
05/07/2012
i liked it alot but i thought it was a little bitter. just could be the taste buds though considering my boyfriend loved it
03/25/2015
I loved this! I idea the combination of the dark-brown carbohydrate and beer was a perfect blend of bitter and sweet and the meat was fall-autonomously tender and moist. Even my husband, who is not generally a fan of corned beef, loved it. The just modify I made was to mix the spice package (included with the corned beef I bought) in with the chocolate-brown sugar before rubbing it on the beef. This will definitely be my go-to corned beef recipe from at present on.
01/15/2013
This was great! I made this corned beef (minus the veggies) to utilize in a recipe for mini reubens plant on this website. It was delicious!
xi/05/2012
I call up the beer adds too much of a bitter flavor to the meal, merely I await forrad to a week of corned beef sandwiches.
03/18/2016
Yes, volition definitely make this once again! Everyone loved it. Changes: I ony put in a few potatoes in the crock pot for flavoring, simply I don't similar my potatoes or cabbage soggy and so I steamed my cabbage separately and roasted my potatoes
03/12/2018
I've made this for years; my family loves information technology and would disown me if I didn't have it for St Patrick'southward Twenty-four hour period dinner! If you notice Guinness to be a fleck besides bitter, I advise using a red or amber Irish beer like Killians.
03/17/2016
This is my family'south favorite St. Patrick's twenty-four hour period dinner
03/15/2015
Came out crawly, I may use less chocolate-brown sugar side by side time although the sweetness wasn't offputting
03/05/2013
Made this for dinner this night, it was succulent. I used Coors Low-cal (it was the just beer I had) and added some apple juice to requite it more than sugariness since some said it was bitter. I likewise omitted the cabbage since I am the simply one who will eat it, this might have too made it less bitter.
03/07/2018
The biting is acquired by the stout beer...use Budweiser and the lite beer gustation will exist only perfect without the strong bitterness...
12/15/2013
This is my get to recipe everytime for corned beef. Nosotros love this recipe even our picky 4yr old son gobbles this up!! Cheers
04/03/2017
I added pocket-size amount garlic powder, Italian seasoning & Hungarian paprika. Added the cabbage wedges during last 40 mins so they wouldn't be as well soggy. The corned beefiness was tender & very tasty. I volition make this dish again.
01/11/2017
This corned beef has the best season of whatsoever I've made!! I used i/two of the cabbage and potatoes. The brown sugar and stout were unusual flavorings but very successful.
03/11/2018
No way will a 4 lb corned beef, 3 potatoes and half dozen carrots serve 16 people. Maybe just a taste each, merely not a full meal. Corned beefiness shrinks and tin be fat depending on cut. Y'all demand at least double the meat potatoes and carrots for 16 people.
02/04/2014
Then delicious! Definitely volition be making information technology again. I wasnt able to fit many potatoes or veggies because my crock pot is small, but I did add ane big sweetness potato, two small-scale red ones, a giant onion, and some carrots. Then easy, so good!
03/nineteen/2018
Honey this recipe! I did a few of the suggestions in the other reviews. Used simply 1 12 oz. bottle of stout, rubbed a little prepared mustard on tiptop and so one-half the brown saccharide. Don't cook the veggies with the meat. Cook the carrots half manner through the meat cooking fourth dimension. Cook the cabbage carve up. And so take the meat and carrot out of the cooking juices and melt the potatoes for near an hour on high. It is worth information technology. Everything was so good!
03/eighteen/2018
I prepared the corned beef every bit directed and placed in ho-hum cooker with stout beer already in place. Placed the 1/four sections of cabbage on either side of meat. Pour rest of beer over. Cooked on low for 2 hours the added fingerling potatoes on one stop of crockpot and baby carrots on other finish. Cooked another 4 hours and was beautiful and so flavorful. Will definately utilise this recipe again and over again.
03/13/2017
This is very good! The sauce marinade is delicious. Only thing is that , I take a large wearisome cooker and information technology was to total with all the recipe called for.
03/19/2013
I made this for dinner tonight I used a stout beer. We institute it a fleck bland and also sugariness. I recommend to omit the sugar and maybe adding the spice packet
03/27/2017
I concluded up turning the boring cooker up to high, because information technology simply didn't seem like information technology was cooking after nearly 3 ane/2 hours on depression. I remember you need a bigger cooker for all the ingredients, because i had a hard fourth dimension fitting it all in my 6 quart cooker. The beer tastes was noticeable, maybe moreso because i don't drink beer. only it added alot of flavour, it was very expert. I will make again, but employ less veggies, and may 1 bottle of beer instead.
03/19/2018
This turned out delish..got a hint of sweet from the brown sugar with all the other flavors mixed..I didn't alter anything and went according to the recipe..information technology'south a hit with everyone in my family unit who were not fans of corned beefiness..thank you so much for this recipe!!
03/19/2018
The flavors were wonderful. My family asked me to save the recipe and definitely go far again.
03/18/2018
I decreased the sugar and merely used enough to rub over the brisket. The corporeality of vegetables needed to be decreased as there were only iv of u.s.. The flavours of this dish were amazing. When I make information technology once again I volition cook the brisket starting time and add together the vegetables only 1-2 hours before eating! First-class dish
03/20/2017
Followed the recipe, but did besides add the flavor parcel from the beefiness. I used half the potatoes and vegetables information technology called for. Information technology was delicious - I did not feel it was bitter as another reviewers stated. I actually found the left-overs better the next day.
03/12/2017
This was wonderful! I added ii cans of Guinness! A keeper!! Had brioche rolls and made sandwiches with sweet beloved mustard and horseradish ! Keen!
03/19/2017
The dish was great, with the dark beer and brown sugar. It's the way I'thou going next St Patty'southward twenty-four hours...
03/eighteen/2018
I made this yesterday, St. Patricks Day The best I've ever had bar none! The only change I fabricated was to utilise a dark ale instead of the stout. The sweet potatoes were an added surprise! As well the brown carbohydrate! Can't look to get at information technology once more today! Thank you!...Mark
03/17/2018
I fabricated it in the crock pot 5LB 1hr on high 4 hrs on low excellent.
03/eighteen/2018
This turned out smashing. The simply change I fabricated was putting in the cabbage after 4 hours of cooking and so continued for ii hours. Will def make over again!
03/18/2018
This was THE All-time corned beef Ever!!!! Information technology was so tender and the season was astounding! Loved the sweet potatoes, although next time, I will add them a little later in the procedure--they were VERY soft.
03/22/2020
Perfect combo of flavors and gives it a different twist with the sweet potatoes-
03/17/2017
I decreased the brown sugar to 1/ii loving cup! This was the Best corned beef nosotros ever had! I volition definitely get in once more!
03/18/2018
Fabricated this exactly as the recipe was written and the whole family loved it!!
03/twenty/2017
Very easy prep; fantabulous recipe. I prefer this over boiling it on the stovetop, seems to taste ameliorate cooked slowly. Highly recommend.
03/xviii/2018
This was great! I brand corned beef in my crock pot several times a yr and this was the absolute best yet. I added the veggies about 2 hours earlier the beef was done and they turned out merely correct. This is now my mode of cooking corned beef.
03/18/2018
I've always apply the crock pot to arrive. Instead of using Guinness stout I used Porter instead and halved the chocolate-brown sugar. Had it with the stout once and it made the potatoes very bitter. I likewise use my bootleg pickling spice. Information technology was tender and tasty. Always cadre the cabbage, more tender and compatible. Swell recipe.
03/18/2018
Made this for St. Patty's day and information technology was the best corned beef I've ever served. I used a 14.9 oz can of drought stout Guinness and a haeaping cup of chocolate-brown sugar and followed directions with the exception of cooking the corned beef on high for near an hr and a half. I then added the potatoes (babe carmine and Golden's sliced in one-half) as well equally baby carrots, cabbage and turning it down to depression for iv hours. Wish I had added the cabbage the concluding 60 minutes ( or even steamed as one reviewer mentioned) and then it wouldn't accept been then wilted merely nonetheless the flavor was outstanding. This is going in my recipe box for sure!
03/18/2018
The Guinness stout added an extra layer of flavor and the corned beef turned out super tender.
03/20/2018
Recipe with iv lb brisket, one-2 less veggies per item, easily serves 4 people. 1 onion more than enough. Cooked 8 hours fifty-fifty on depression is too long, vegetables well-nigh disintegrated. Next fourth dimension, I will melt on stove top in dutch oven. one 1/two cups chocolate-brown saccharide was too sweet, I would cut that in half. Cut vegetables in larger chunks. Season was amazing with Stout Guinness. Take passed on the recipe to family and will definitely go far over again.
03/17/2018
I cooked information technology as per directions but I did not care for the taste adjacent fourth dimension i will non use the beer
03/17/2017
I did not treat this recipe. I used my favorite stout beer, which is not very biting at all, merely when heated in the crock pot it turned into a big pot of thwarting. I spent an extra 45 minutes doctoring information technology up simply to brand information technology edible.
03/eighteen/2017
The meat was fork tender and very flavorful. I used much less brown sugar than called for (only about a tablespoon) because nosotros eat a low sugar diet. I added a tablespoon of whole pink peppercorns. No 1 tasted any bitterness whatsoever from the stout, merely depth of season. Served with soda staff of life toasts on the side. I will make this every St. Patrick's Twenty-four hours! Thanks for the recipe.
03/eighteen/2018
I actually liked the flavors BUT: 1. No way this feeds more than iv, 5 at a stretch 2. Barely fit into my big crock pot leaving out the cabbage iii. Veggies should NOT go in the same fourth dimension every bit beef if yous plan to cook on depression for 6-8 hours. Too mushy. Just we did eat this upwards on St. Patty's Twenty-four hours 2019!
03/18/2018
This was a great meal, I adapted it slightly by using ii big sweet potatoes four red potatoes 1/2 a caput of cabbage. This recipe doesn't telephone call for seasonings then the next time I brand it I will add one tbsp of garlic table salt and 1 tbsp of footing black pepper.
03/18/2018
Made it exactly like the recipe sans carrots. Fantabulous! Great flavor and it was the most tender corned beefiness I e'er made.
03/18/2018
Made the slow cooker Corned Beef and it was excellent. As with any recipe that I make , I am never true to the recipe and only utilize it equally a base. Normally make some modifications along the manner. The ho-hum cooker made the Corned Beef very tender and it was thoroughly enjoyed down to the last bite. No left overs , very deplorable.
03/18/2018
Delicious! Didn't use the whole amount of dark-brown sugar , just coated the exterior liberally. Will definitely use this recipe again!
03/18/2018
Yes I will go far again.. my guests loved it. The simply matter I did dissimilar was I used beef broth instead of the stout beer. Fantabulous recipe
03/17/2017
I took the advice of someone who mentioned using the tea ball for the spices. Too made sure to cook on low for 8 hours. Information technology was a huge hit with so many at the political party commenting it was the best corned beefiness and cabbage they had always had.
03/17/2017
This is and then tasty! I cut the vegetables into big chunks rather than chopping them, but otherwise followed the directions to the alphabetic character. My family unit thought it was delicious. Volition definitely make this again.
03/12/2018
This delicious dish is Such a comfort nutrient tradition and smells wonderful while cooking. I've used both red and sweet potatoes, or merely reddish potatoes; in a pinch simply russets. I sometimes add celery and exercise the cabbage separately. I Haven't Used brown sugar every bit I observe the Guinness and seasoning packets that come with the meat sufficient and not too sweet. I plan to arrive in my new instant pot this year.
03/11/2018
I put mustard on so applied dark-brown saccharide and cooked my on low for 8-x hours, and as it says employ guinness or a stout or porter.
ten/29/2018
Best I've ever made. It was juicy and tasty and wowed after. The only things I did differently....I did not apply a sweet potato as I did not accept one on paw. And, I would use more than blood-red potatoes next time, perchance 4 or 5....Also, I did not have Stout beer, so I used a regular beer that we had on manus.
03/20/2018
We loved this recipe! The stout really added a neat flavor. Our corn beef was but about 2 1/2 lbs. I did not use sweet potatoes because I did not have any. I filled the slow cooker with as many vegetables as it would hold. I also used simply about one/two loving cup of brown sugar. The left overs were wonderful. Thank you so much for the recipe!
03/18/2018
This St. Patrick's Twenty-four hour period dinner this year was both delicious and simple. I loved this recipe and I love my deadening cooker.
03/eighteen/2018
I made no changes to this succulent recipe !!!!
03/18/2018
I loved the simplicity of this main dish. I used my larger crock pot, and everything merely fit. I stock-still it past 8:30 AM, and forgot about dinner for the residue of the solar day. There was and so much food for just my husband and me, that I invited 2 unmarried friends to join us. They enjoyed the meal very much. I don't similar meat dishes to exist sweet, and then I merely used half the chocolate-brown sugar called for. Adjacent yr I will brand this over again, merely with 2 changes. i. I will leave out the saccharide completely. 2. I will add together the sweetness potatoes a little bit afterwards so they aren't so soft.
03/xviii/2017
We really enjoyed this. I would have given it 5 stars, but I couldn't fit all the veggies in our crock pot. I think it should exist noted you demand a actually large crock pot to accommodate it all. However, at the end of the day the corned beef was really tender and the veggies were cooked (6 hours). The regular potatoes tasted similar Guiness (kinda odd, merely worked for us!) and the sweet potatoes were falling apart. I might look a bit longer to put the veggies in adjacent twelvemonth.
03/21/2017
I fabricated this exactly as written, which I consider but fair before altering it. I My only problem was that my corned beef brisket was only three lbs, not 4, and even in my large tedious cooker, there were too many veg to fit. I liked the recipe very much, myself, but my husband didn't, so much, because "it doesn't gustation similar I'm used to." Silly homo. I will make information technology again, though. Maybe just not for St Paddy's.
03/xix/2018
A tad salty (probably the brand corned beef I used), and I'd likely soak it overnight should I make information technology again. Regardless, it was really quite good, and everyone enjoyed it. The beer adds a dimension I haven't tried earlier, which I liked.
04/01/2019
Unfortunately, I used a Stout beer, every bit directed, resulting in a stiff bitter taste. Please recommend the Guinness Draft only!
03/27/2018
I made this but several modifications based on ingredients on mitt. Didn't accept any stout then sub'd a hearty Budweiser variety and a little chix bullion to make up the volume. I did a lot of improvising with what I thought would exist skilful and what I had on hand. About a lb of baby carrots. 1 1/2 lbs of babe potatoes, red and white mixed. ii onions cut into 1/four's. Opened, rinsed and trimmed the fat off the 4 lb corned beef roast. Rubbed the entire roast with 1 envelope of onion soup. Sprinkled it with a little ground bay leave (been dying to try this new add-on to the spice arsenal) and granulated garlic. Oh yeah, I added that little spice pack you lot go into the beer at the offset. No cabbage so I cleaned and halved about 1 lb of brussel sprouts. Put the lid on, set for viii hrs on depression.
03/21/2018
Absolutely delicious! I will make this again for sure. Information technology doesn't all fit in slow cooker. I had to use my Mom's very big pot she used for soup and fabricated it stove pinnacle-low and tedious.
03/20/2018
This was an excellent way to gear up my corned beefiness this St. Patrick'due south Day. We loved the flavors. I used Lagunitas Niggling Sumpin Sumpin Ale, my favorite beer and it was not biting at all. I only had minor purple potatoes and they were neat too. Loved the addition of a sweet potato! My roast was only a picayune over 2 lbs, so I adjusted amounts, but stuck to the recipe. I did add the tiny packet of seasoning that came with the meat, sprinkling it on summit. Information technology turned out actually tasty, tender and done to perfection. Thanks for the great recipe!
03/16/2020
Non biting, just don't forget the sugar.....I did...in one case...LOL. Added Bay leaf and clove of garlic....Used the spice pack.
03/17/2018
Only used enough sugar to glaze the brisket (almost 3/4 cup) and reserved half the vegetables to add in the concluding hour and then that they retained some crispness. Yumm.
03/17/2018
Made it as instructed....Excellent! A overnice change for St. Patrick's Day. Lots of wonderful leftovers. I volition make it again.
03/18/2018
Loved it. Meat and veggies were very tender. I volition brand this once again
03/xviii/2018
I followed the recipe using a 6 quart crock and not all the veggies fit. Nosotros weren't crazy nigh how tough the corned beef was even after I extended the cook time. Perhaps it was the cutting? Flavor was good but probably volition go back to my other means of preparing our corned beef. Cheers for posting it though. Information technology was worth a attempt. We fix corned beef often and similar to try recipes.
03/17/2018
I added a rub of minced garlic, basil, oregano to the brown saccharide rub. As well used shredded cabbage which I added one hr before end time. Succulent ??
03/eighteen/2021
This turned out amazingly succulent! My hubby said it tasted like the best Prime Rib he's ever eaten! High praise indeed. I did accept to alter a couple of things, but not significantly. I discovered that my brown sugar was a large ROCK, and then was unable to actually rub it all over the brisket. Rather, I had to chip off a lump and dissolve it in the stout (I did use Guiness). I irksome-cooked it overnight, took information technology out and permit it absurd and sliced information technology. Put it in the fridge until dinner. I So cooked the veggies - I don't like them mushy - in my instant pot in the broth from the corned beef. It was So GOOD! St. Patrick would have DROOLED over it! Thanks for a smashing recipe!
03/18/2021
Information technology came out very good and is a "keeper". I followed the recipe but did have a few suggestions below - I added the spice back with the 1st half of bottle of Guinness and also spiced out the calculation of the Veges. I put the white potatoes and carrots in during the concluding 3 1/2 hours and added the cabbage and sweet potatoes during the last 2 1/2. They all came out perfect- not mushy at all.
03/15/2021
Looks proficient but definitely not for dibetics.
03/21/2021
I used Guinness equally called for but reduced the brown sugar to three/4 cup. We prefer the potatoes and cabbage cooked separately and this year I roasted new potatoes and braised the cabbage with a footling of the cooking liquid from the Crock.
03/23/2021
It was fantastic I had never used brown saccharide on corned beefiness before, and had ever put the veggies on the lesser only putting them on meridian they cooked up perfectly this will be my go to recipe from here on out!
03/22/2021
No changes what so always! It was the Best corned beefiness ever to come out of my kitchen. I make corned beef and cabbage every yr and decided I would try this. I practice not understand the "bitter" comments. Did they not use the brown sugar, did they apply to much stout beer? I used 1 bottle of Guinness Stout ( I don't like beer!), used half in the crock pot as stated and the rest over the top of the veggies. I used both sweet and russet potatoes coarsely chopped the cabbage, half a large yellowish onion and used a 1/ii bag of babe carrots. BEST EVER! Follow the recipe and you will not be disappointed. Make changes and you change the way it turns out.
09/28/2020
Awesome flavor. Great go to recipe. This is my any twenty-four hours is corned beef day recipients!
04/02/2018
Made it without sweet potatoes and added bay leaves. three our of iv our the states really liked or liked it. The 4th person ate information technology but did not much care for it but she is elderly and has shifting taste buds these days. Nosotros should take gotten a larger corned beef.
04/03/2018
Dandy stew and information technology was easy. However, my married man did non like the sweet potatoes with the corned beef and did not like the vegetables equally left overs because of the sweet potatoes. He felt they ruined the mix. I love sweet potatoes but didn't intendance for them in this dish. Loved the beer as the liquid! Nifty suggestion.
03/22/2018
Excellent taste!!
03/18/2018
My family did not care for the season of the stout. It needed more dark-brown sugar. Potatoes came out tasting bitter. Like shooting fish in a barrel to prepare. Cooked on low for 6 hours. Won't make once again.
03/17/2019
I made this in the irksome cooker simply only placed the corned beef and cabbage in the beer as I wasn't sure if I would like beer infused carrots and potatoes. The corned beef was really practiced but the cabbage cooked in the beer had an odd favor in my opinion. Adjacent time I make this, I will only put the corned beef in the beer and cook the other items separately.
04/25/2020
The tenderest corned beef ever made.
03/20/2018
This turned out fabulous. It was the all-time corned beef recipe I e'er made.
03/25/2017
Absolutely perfect!
03/16/2017
Made this last year and it was wonderful will make it again for St. Paddy's Day this week.
04/05/2018
The corned beef was tender, but the potatoes and carrots were bitter from the stout. It was a very potent flavor in the vegetables. Probably volition not use this recipe once more. Sad. Simply non our taste.
03/sixteen/2020
I'thousand non that wild almost cabbage, and since I'm solitary this calendar week I skipped it; same for sweetness potatoes. Otherwise, I followed the recipe, using Guinness Stout, and was very happy with the event. I'll be using this recipe once again!
03/17/2018
I used a pale ale instead of a night stout and used one-half of the brown sugar called for in this recipe, and no cabbage because we don't care for it.I don't intendance for the darker ales and neither does my husband. Adjacent time, I might apply the whole amount of brown saccharide called for. I wanted to duplicate my mom's corned beefiness and she used a minumum amount of brown sugar, and so I exercise likewise. Nosotros ate corned beef sandwiches for a couple of days. Delish!
03/17/2019
'meh! Zero special at all. Taste was lacking. I'll stick to the traditional recipe.
03/14/2018
Didn't make any change. I thought the flavor was ok but the veggies were mushy and the meat was dry.
03/17/2018
Super piece of cake and oh, and then practiced! My married man's not a big fan of corned beefiness, but with the dark-brown saccharide (and beer), how could he non? This recipe is for a large ho-hum cooker. I had to cut mine well-nigh 50% for a 2 liter Crock Pot.
03/29/2018
This was soooo expert -- I can't imagine making corned beef whatsoever other way. I have several recipes that use beer, but I never thought of using beer with corned beef. My roast was smaller so I only used 1 canteen of Newcastle beer. I used ruby-red potatoes, onions and carrots, just I have a not bad cabbage goulash that I adopt. Couldn't have been meliorate.
03/18/2018
Very expert! My family liked information technology a lot.
03/27/2018
I liked it, but my husband idea information technology was too sweet.
03/18/2018
Only alter I made was cooking the carrots potatoes & cabbage on the stove. I couldn't fit them all in my large crock pot. I beloved cooking in the crockpot then delicious & no mess. Anybody loved it so much at that place were no leftovers. The dark-brown saccharide fabricated it so sweet. Nosotros didn't detect theguinness To exist bitter at all. Will brand this again. Delicious!!!
03/19/2021
Disappointed. More of a stew, and information technology but became a big mush. Back to the erstwhile traditional way for me.
